Thanks for dropping by! I'm a Vancouver-based wine & hospitality consultant who writes about wine, presents seminars, hosts events, judges competitions, works with restaurants on their wine programs, and so on.
My background is in running restaurants around Vancouver, eventually receiving the 'Sommelier of the Year' award at the 2010 Vancouver International Wine Festival. I've run the wine program for a couple evenings at James Beard House, had bylines in local and international publications, such as Vancouver Magazine, Decanter and Maclean's. I have various certifications and credits through London's Wine & Spirit Education Trust, the Court of Master Sommeliers & the Winemaing Program at UC Davis. I'm also the co-founder of Top Drop, a series of terroir-focused trade and consumer festival-style events, dubbed "the nerdiest, most awesome wine festival in Canada." My latest project is Free Spirit!, a celebration of the world of non-alc wine, beer, and spirits!
Clients for restaurant wine training or seminar presentation, consulting, and collaborations over the years have included Vancouver icons like Maenam, The Acorn, Burdock & Co., Bao Bei, and Published in Main. I've been contracted to facilitate events for the likes of Wines of British Columbia, Wine Australia, and California Wines. I've also led virtual and in-person wine tasting sessions for numerous private and corporate clients.
